Author Mindset ~ First Draft Truth

By: Scribes Unleashed

No Expert or Guru Statement

Many authors have a problem finishing that first draft. It doesn’t matter if you are new, in-between or been writing for a while. Some author keep going over each work as they write it. I’m not referring to a check to make sure you are on track. What I mean is they keep going back and nitpicking each item. This is why they don’t get any forward progress and can’t finish the book. They are trying to have the perfect book when they finish that first draft.

First truth. There is no such thing as perfect. Perfection is a myth that we convince ourselves of. What you should strive for it your best.

Now for the First Draft Truth.

Your first draft won’t be publish ready when you finish it. It will need work to get to that stage. So stop going over each word and trying to make it perfect. Go forward in your writing and write that story. Get that first draft done. Then after you can make that first draft shine.
